About This Blog

Back in 2008, I moved to Turkey for three months to join my husband, who had already been there for 9 months.  Due to the dramatic cultural shift, I was sending home emails weekly to family and friends describing our amazing adventures.  The emails were so popular that I continued them when we moved on to Germany; however, since I was publishing less frequently, I changed the name from “Week in Review” to “Adventures in Deutschland.”  We’re now back in the States, but it seems people still want to keep up with any adventures we have, plus sometimes I just have things I’d like to say.  My readership had grown to the point where I was having to send out multiple emails to fly under the spam-filter radars, so I have decided to switch to blog format.

So, let me explain the title…

Our first year in Germany, we went to the annual squadron picnic.  It was a bright, beautiful, HOT summer day, so we staked out a spot in the shade, which happened to be in an area raised about 2 feet above the rest of the park.  We’d brought four chairs, even though there were only two of us.  As the day wore on, people came in and out, some using our chairs, some adding their own.  Eventually we had a half circle, with my husband and I at the head.  We joked about holding court… before we knew it, everyone currently in the circle had a courtly title (The court jester, the Duke of Awesome, the court Sage, and of course, Princess Tucker) and Cosnerlot was born.

As I thought about a name for this blog, names like “Adventures in Loryland” or “Navigating the Mommyhood” were considered and discarded, because this isn’t just about me, and I’m more than just a mom.  Somehow, the memory of Cosnerlot came up, and now that we have a Crown Prince, I decided to resurrect the Court and attempt to return it to its former glory.
